FYR: AIM - MRR - 2938T Organizational strategy of the National Association of Electric Consumers for Reform (NASECORE) for the modernization of the Philippine electric power industry de Guzman, Cristina C. Electricity is the most ignored, information-exclusive, and extremely complicated productized service available to consumers. Yet it is one of the most important since it penetrates almost every aspect of human consumption-- either directly or indirectly. It is an industry that generates billions in revenues every year but it is humbled by playing a supporting role to all the other industries in the nation. This supporting role makes the industry all the more important because one failure triggers a whole new set of effects that slows down the economy. Several government and industry initiatives have been set in order to strengthen the power sector. From the fast-track program of NAPOCOR during the Ramos administration all the way to the Power Bill that attempts a legislative approach to industry change in the Macapagal-Arroyo administration, the industry remains to be stuck in second gear. Far down south in the Eastern Visayas region, there exists an association of electricity consumers who have brought the cost of electricity down in their respective electric cooperatives. Having found a strategy to produce results for the electricity consumer., NASECORE is diffusing their strategy on to other regions and provinces in order to live up to its name. This MRR seeks to provide an organizational strategy for this non-government organization in their social advocacy of electric consumer rights. YEAR: 2001 COLLATION: 87p. ; 28cm.
